Mini Kinos offers creative workshops where children explore storytelling and animation through hands-on activities. Through creativity, children explore visual storytelling by reimagining classic books and bringing characters to life. Our workshops foster creativity, experimentation, and self-expression, blending art, technology, and imagination into a unique learning experience!
By engaging in these creative processes, children not only develop technical skills in film and animation but also enhance their ability to think critically, collaborate, and express their ideas visually. Mini Kinos encourages young creators to see stories from new perspectives, write their own versions, and turn their imagination into animated adventures.
The Heart Behind Mini Kinos
Meet the Founder
I am a multimedia artist, filmmaker, and PhD student in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. Originally from Turkey, I have been living in Portugal since 2014, actively producing artistic work and collaborating on a variety of projects.
In January 2025, I founded Mini Kinos, a creative workshop project that introduces children to storytelling, film creation, and multimedia arts.
Through Mini Kinos, we encourage children to explore their imagination, experiment with artistic techniques, and express themselves in new and creative ways. For example, in our workshops, a polar bear might visit your town simply because they want to see the Museum of Cans 😍. I truly believe that children can create incredible new stories, and Mini Kinos provides the space, tools, and guidance to bring these ideas to life in a fun, collaborative, and inspiring environment.

Joana Rainha
Multidisciplinary Artist
Joana is a multidisciplinary artist and educator with a passion for asking big questions. She leads storytelling projects blending visual arts, literature, theatre, and animation, with a focus on inclusive communication. Currently, she collaborates in theatre and with Mini Kinos.
Daniela Antunes
Artist / Teacher / Tutor
Trained percussionist Daniela Antunes brings creativity to life through movement and storytelling. She now tutors stop-motion animation at Mini Kinos, inspiring young artists and expanding her skills in visual storytelling and education.
Joana Ribeiro (Leo)
Artist / Animator
Leo is a Multimedia Art bachelor finalist, passionate about animation, movement, and theatre. With experience teaching and entertaining kids in camps and amusement parks, Leo joins Mini Kinos to inspire confidence, creativity, and connection through art.
Teresa Quinhones (Theo)
Artist / Animator
Theo is an animation student aspiring to become a director, with a passion for storytelling and visual expression.
She works with children and young people, sharing the transformative power of the arts through her work at Mini Kinos.
Mini Kinos Teaching Style & Benefits
At Mini Kinos, we teach through play, story, and theatrical creativity. Our trainers are guides and storytellers, helping children feel safe to explore ideas.
Every child is encouraged to participate, create, and express themselves. Mistakes are welcome, creativity comes first.
Through these creative processes, children develop film and animation skills, think critically, collaborate, and express ideas visually. Mini Kinos helps young creators turn imagination into animated adventures.
